Bujumbura

Formerly Usumbura, is the largest city and main port of Burundi. It ships most of the country’s chief export, coffee, as well as cotton.

Bujumbura was the Burundi capital until 2019 when Gitega was declared the new Capital.

A visit to Bujumbura’s main attractions like the Burundi Geological Museum, parks and monuments,  Rusizi National Park and the Livingstone-Stanley Monument, the presidential palace and the Source of the Nile.  A visit to Burundi would not be complete without a visit to Gashora Drum Sanctuary; which was in 2014, was included in the UNESCO list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
